Methodology

How we turn mobile checks into letter grades

Chipmakers Hall scores UK-licensed operators with marks from A to D. The spine of every review is how the product behaves on a phone or tablet.

Independent · Affiliate-funded · Not an operator

Grades are editorial summaries — not predictions of results or guarantees of offers.

Criteria we check

01

UKGC licence

We only list brands that present as licensed for Great Britain. Absence of clear licensing ends the review.

02

Game range

Slots, table games and specialty titles — judged for useful depth on mobile, not raw catalogue bragging.

03

Live casino on small screens

Can you find tables quickly? Do streams stay watchable? Are limits readable without constant zooming?

04

App & mobile web

Native apps and browser builds are both valid. We mark clarity, stability of navigation and how quickly safer-play tools appear.

05

Studios & titles

Presence of recognised providers and whether standout titles load cleanly on a handset.

06

Welcome offer type

Described neutrally (match bonus, spins package, and so on). We never invent exact figures or call an offer “best”.

07

Customer support

Reachability from a phone — help links, chat entry points, clarity of help articles.

08

Overall usability

The day-to-day feel: search, filters, account limits, and whether the lobby fights the thumb.

What the letters mean

A — consistently strong across the mobile-weighted criteria with only minor caveats.
B — solid for most players, with a clear gap in one or two areas (often live depth or app polish).
C — usable, yet thinner on live catalogue, studio breadth or mobile structure.
D — material gaps for the criteria we publish; we rarely keep such brands in a shortlist.

What we leave out

Payment methods, deposit routes, withdrawal speeds and bank-specific advice are outside our remit. This is a reviews and comparison resource, not a payments guide.

Affiliate funding never buys a letter grade. If commercial terms change, the public method stays the same.
